This past Wednesday I volunteered at WOW JAM here in Los Angeles on Skid Row. WOW JAM is a traveling urban evangelical ministry. It's set up like a block party. There, we fixed bikes, cooked hot meals for people, rocked babies, cut hair, gave away groceries and took family photos. Then, after demonstrating the love and compassion of Christ to the people, they offer everyone a chance to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and be baptized in Jesus name.
Yesterday however, I was in the makeup booth giving out makeovers to women. The first woman that came and sat in my chair was Linda. In her younger days she was a dancer and singer and shared with me all these memories of her on stage and how she misses it. She told me about her life and how most of her family had abandoned her.
While I was doing her makeup I began to tell her how beautiful she was and how much God loved her. She then looked up at me with a big smile.
Once her makeup was finished I handed her the mirror. She looked in it and began to break down and cry.
She was overwhelmed and told me that this was exactly how she did her makeup when she would go and perform on stage when she was young. Yet in this moment, it was no longer about the makeup, it was about the work God was doing on the inside of her.
After giving her some time to look herself in the mirror, me and another women began to pray with her. Within a moment, she began to experience Jesus in a way that can only be described by her.
I continued to pray over her.
Minutes later, she looks at me and tells me that she had injured her shoulder and how it had been in pain for three years. With tears rolling down her face she began to rejoice because the pain that had been there for three years, was no longer there. She began to lift her shoulders and move them around and began to give glory to God for healing her.
It doesn't end there. She had a wheelchair when she came up and asked me to do her makeup. She told me she also had pain in her ankle and couldn't walk with her full strength for a long time resulting in her being in a wheelchair for many years. After I prayed with her, I asked her to stand up and we walked across the street. Once we made it to the other side, she looked me in the eye, then looked down at her wheelchair. "I don't think I need my wheelchair any more," she said.
That day, Jesus healed Lisa from EVERY pain in her body, even at her mature age.
There is no sicknesses or pain Jesus cannot heal.
The Bible talks about this in Matthew 4:23 where Jesus goes to Galilee healing the sick.
"And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people. 24 So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them all."
If you need healing from any sickness, pain (emotional or physical) or disease, and/or know anyone who does, say this prayer with a genuine heart in faith:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your love and grace that has been showered upon my life even when I didn't deserve it. Today, I sincerely repent of all my sins (name them) and I will turn from them. Everyone who hurt me and that has spoken a negative word against me, I forgive them (name them). I ask you to transform my weakness into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort not just for myself but for others to come to know You. I will put my trust in You and rest in Your promise. Lord, may the blood of Jesus Christ make me whole and new.
Lord, may your Holy Spirit come upon me and deliver and heal me. There is no sickness you can't heal and no broken heart you can't mend. Lord I receive full healing over my body for your names sake so that you may be glorified.
All of this I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
